Probably one of the most meaningful bottles that I've engraved at an event. Here's to groovy parents... Gotta Love Macallan scotch.
It's no secret that my work has made a deviation away from paper over the last year. Obviously, I still work with paper, but it has definitely taken a backseat to glass, mirrors, wood, metal, acrylic etc. I just ADORE these laser cut names that are often used as place cards. This is my hand calligraphy taken to a larger size. Next medium that I plan to work in....FABRICS. Why not?! Cheers!
Unfortunately, I know how it feels to lose a beloved pet and friend. I lost my Sidney (my sweet, opinionated Westie) a few years ago and still think of him often. A few weeks ago, I was contacted about engraving a pet's urn. In all honesty, this is something that I have never done and it frankly is just not on my radar. However, the crematorium that took care of Dexter did him a serious disservice by writing his name on the urn with a gold sharpie....not even in a nice script. Just a plain, old, sad gold sharpie. THAT'S JUST WRONG. So I hope that engraving Dexter's urn not only pleases his parents but also puts him at peace. Peace & Love

The older I get the more I love jewelry and I have always had an affinity for silver. I recently had a bride request something simple, but cool for herself while I was working on her wedding stationery. We landed on engraving a silver bracelet. I figured why not offer something like this to all of my clients. Here it 'tis! Available on the website and the Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/BellaGrafiaInk?ref=l2-shop-header-avatar

I recently had a stationer out of New Orleans (one of my favorite cities) contact me for samples of my work. Love her company's name --- Box.Paper.Scissors. She was interested in the agate stones in various hands and a few envelopes. Here is the one that I sent with a calligraphic bird. Hope she and her clients like them. Cheers!
It is always a pleasure to engrave. Metals have become my favorite this year. I mostly stick to glass as I have a soft spot for wine & spirits, but earlier this year I was reminded of how amazing engraving metals can be and decided to revisit them. Stainless steel engraves like butter. These bottle openers were for Public Services Bar in downtown Houston. I hand lettered their sign at their entrance last year before they opened and was tickled pink when they contacted me for the bottle openers. I really like how these came out and was OVERJOYED that they let me choose the hand to use. Cheers!
What a treat it was to wake up this morning to learn that I have received the Houston Best Engraver Award for the 3rd year in a row! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Here's the press release: http://houstontx.houstontx.awardcontact.org/PressReleaseub.aspx?cc=DEV7-RBCB-G7FF
Haven't engraved metal in about a year. Quick warm-up on a knife as I promised to engrave for a friend today. Forgot how cool metals were to engrave....
When you are engraving scotch bottles for a spirit company at an event and the outlet for your air compressor gives out & you can't take the table to a different outlet because you'd block the aisle... along with the fact that you have a line of people waiting for their engraved bottles, what do you do? While the store figures out where to shift your electrical power, You find the closest outlet (that works), take the necessities to engrave a scotch bottle and something high enough to engrave on. Go!

So remember that Grand Marnier Event that I did calligraphy for? They asked if I would engrave some of the bottles that were purchased by clients. I was happy to oblige. One of these was hand painted....No pressure. Keep a steady hand :)
This Long Island, NY client wanted to have a seating chart created for a birthday celebration. The request was for gold ink on black paper with script headers. I don't play golf but I totally dig the theme! I think that it came out nicely. Now off to the post office this will go. Cheers!
This bride from Atlanta had a preference for the "Elis" style. This is my favorite this year as it shows a contrast of 2 hands and can be made informal with dropping the titles from the guest names and shifting the lines etc, if desired. We executed it in gold ink on beautiful off-white heavy cotton paper. Love it!
How do I calligraph my work if I don't want to deal with erasing graphite lines you ask? I just pull out my Austin Powers "Laser" :) Sorry that I couldn't figure out how to enlarge the screen. This is what happens when you are holding the camera in one hand and writing with the other....
I love when clients plan ahead :) This client had a bottle engraved for her wedding but also had a 2nd bottle engraved for their 1st anniversary. It engraved beautifully and I know that their first year will be even more beautiful!. Cheers!
