Hugo Boss Fragrance Engraving - Houston

Merry Christmas….just kidding. This is a fragrance bottle that I engraved at a Hugo Boss event in December. Please forgive me for just now posting this bottle; however, I just came across it in my pictures and loved the result. To be fair, I am fully aware that my style of engraving calligraphy is not modern at all……which is exactly what I love about it. I love the vintage look of Spencerian lettering. Although true Spencerian spacing is not always possible of a small canvas such as a fragrance bottle. However, the essence is there, especially in the majuscules (capital letters).

This cologne bottle in particular was beautiful to engrave as it is black which provided contrast to the gold engraved lettering. The glass of the fragrance bottle lacked texture, which is an engraver’s dream. Texture can shift how you engrave and if you can easily add color. I rather liked the end result. What do you think?

Engraving fragrance bottles onsite definitely provides a different feel than engraving wine and spirit bottles. With that said, I genuinely enjoy both. I find that the mood at a wine or spirit bottle job is pretty laid back and fun. Oftentimes, it can be relatively hardcore due to volume which can provide a little adrenaline rush. Fragrance bottles jobs are generally more luxurious so to speak. Who doesn’t love that? I feel so fortunate to have turned what began as a hobby into my career. I remember when I thought that no-one would. pay me to write. I learned that EVERYTHING has a niche. Thank you, Houston.

Tiffany & Co Fragrance Bottle Engraver - Houston

Like most women, I have been intrigued by Tiffany & Co since childhood. When you see that unmistakable blue color, you know that something wonderful is inside. I have engraved quite a few fragrance bottles of Tiffany over the years in Houston and this one is absolutely beautiful. Not just the scent but also the glass. It engraves very nicely and smoothly. This modern, artisanal scent, with the noble iris at its heart, is as exhilarating and inspired as love itself. Top note is vert de mandarine with a middle note of noble iris and the base notes are patchouli and musk.

Salvatore Ferragamo Fragrance Bottle Engraving - Dallas & Houston

On Friday, I had the exquisite pleasure of engraving calligraphy in fragrance bottles for the Ferragamo boutique at NorthPark Center in Dallas. I say that it was an exquisite pleasure as everything about the boutique was inviting. They only recently moved into this specific space a month prior to my visit. There were 2 entrances into this boutique; 1 internal entrance through the center and an external entrance from the street. Secret: I don’t find shopping to be pleasing hence I am typically only in stores when I am working. With that in mind, the entrance from the street was golden. Once I entered the boutique, every representative exuded the holy grail of luxurious service under the stead of Juan Novoa, Boutique Director. Every member was graceful, calm, welcoming, attentive & kind.

The finishes throughout the store radiated the elegant mood initiated by the staff. They were simple, clean and elegant. Engraving fragrance bottles in the boutique was a genuine pleasure as they engraved like silk. I assure you that on some level glass is glass, but as a calligraphy hand engraver some glass feels more like crystal than your garden variety glass. I can think of a few bottles specifically that always “feel” elegant during the engraving process. These fragrance bottles and the Macallan Scotch Rare Cask bottle are the first 2 to come to mind. I engraved quite a few fragrance bottles that evening. It was an exquisite pleasure & I look forward to returning to this boutique.

Jo Malone Engraving - Houston Engraver

Engraving calligraphy in fragrance bottles is definitely a highlight to my work.  Seven years ago, I recall thinking "yes, I like to write, but who is going to pay me to do that?"  And here we are!  AND I love providing calligraphy & hand lettering in fragrance bottles via engraving because the entire time that I am there, the scents are DIVINE.  It really is hard to ask for more.  

Engraving in fragrance bottles provides an easy gift regardless of the occasion as the gift is automatically personalized and is a simple purchase for the "gift giver".  I'm certain that there is a more elegant word for that, but I digress.  

What I love about Jo Malone in particular is that their fragrances are unisex and can be mixed and layered.   Cheers!

Jo Malone Mother's Day Engraving Event - Houston Engraver

It was such a pleasure engraving calligraphy here in Houston for Jo Malone Fragrances last week leading up to Mother's Day.  It's so amazing how much you can learn about other disciplines from engraving calligraphy for them.  For instance, did you know that you can "layer" fragrances meaning that you may wear various fragrances at the same time to create a customized fragrance just for you?  Ok, so maybe I was the only person that didn't know that likely because I don't shop.  Jo Malone's fragrances are on the minimalist side in that they use far less ingredients than other brands making them perfect for layering.

Did you know that many of the Jo Malone fragrances are unisex?  I didn't know that.  Between engraving, the amazing ladies, Marjory & Nadia, helped me find my perfect scents at the Macy's at Memorial City Mall.  I love floral and sweet scents with a little flirty feel.  Sure enough, they created fragrances that were perfect for me.  Love it!

Quite possibly my favorite bottle from the Black Stallion Vineyard wine bottle calligraphy engraving event here in Houston yesterday @blackstallionwinery   This was requested by the sweetest, coolest "young" man that we had the privilege of engraving for that day. Gucci Fragrance Bottle Engraving in Houston

As always, it is a pleasure engraving for clients at events here in Houston.  This weekend, I had the privilege of working with Gucci fragrances.  Gucci Bamboo has become a personal favorite and is clearly a favorite of others as well.  It figuratively flew off of the shelves this Mother's Day weekend.  This bottle was also incredibly easy to engrave.  Even better! Fragrance Bottle Engraving - Houston Engraver

Quite often, I am asked "so you are a calligrapher/penman/engraver?  How do you make a living at that?"  Well, here is one way....fragrance bottle engraving.  The last 2 weeks have been fragrance bottle engraving events nonstop for Mother's Day.  I LOVE IT!  It was such a pleasure working with Prada, Calvin Klein, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs and Chloe yesterday.  

I love that I am able to use my love of hand lettering, calligraphy & engraving AND make a living.  Who could ask for more?  If you noticed that my business is making a departure from wedding invitation design and wedding envelope addressing, you would be correct.  I absolutely ADORE making the reception pieces (tiles, agate stones, mirror seating charts, laser cut wood calligraphy) and those will REMAIN as interestingly they have become what I am known for :).  Hope you enjoy this journey as much as I am.  Cheers!
