Wine Bottle Engraving - Houston
Over the Mother’s Day holiday last month, I honestly engraved so many wine bottles that I lost track. However, I remember this Orin Swift bottle because the hands on the label really resonated with me. I haven’t had a drink in years, however I remember that we would get so enraptured in the nuances of wines and wax poetic about the ripe fruit and forest floor (whatever that is) and terroir etc etc etc. I jest, but I really did enjoy discovering the nuances of how each varietal differed from the other and how even each bottle of the same wine may differ. Curse the universe if you get a corked or cooked wine. The horror of that wet newspaper smell….
But one thing that we would often neglect to consider was that people… farmers…. put their lives, blood, sweat and tears into making this wine. I am a farmer’s daughter, so I understand. They did this every day in the fields on blistering hot days. They had days where they risked their lives to save their crops from wildfires and hoped that they wouldn’t lose everything in an instant. Some did…. The rough and rugged hands on this Orin Swift bottle of Papillon made me remember that these wines are not just juice for a good time. They represent the lives of many people that play a part to eventually place that bottle on your dinner table.
So as I engrave these wine bottles, I hope that I do them justice and honor the people that frankly gave me a role to play in the wine industry. Thank you ever so much to everyone along the way.
Cheers!
